CONTINUUM is an exhibition featuring limited edition prints of my photographic work on architectural details. Intricate natural and artificial textures, complex macro and micro-structures are observed by the eye and magnified or minimized through the lens. These visual segments are then isolated, abstracted and frozen into a photographic frame, a projection.
This projection is then broken down and consciously fragmented until it becomes pure colour and shape, losing all of its original connotations. The architectural detail is therefore abstracted and deprived of its surrounds and context. Recorded in different geographical locations, miles apart from each other, these broken structures are then re-combined to become part of a visual CONTINUUM, a new object where the individual projections borrow colours and lines from each other.
This collection of visual specimens of re-generated geometry and re-constituted space provide the basis for my thoughts on the relationship between man and nature, nature and townscapes, townscapes and man.
